Wray L Brodmerkel ,87, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), passed peacefully on April 9, 2024, with his daughter and granddaughters by his side.
Born June 16, 1936, Wray was a retired steelworker from J & L Steel, and also a mechanic at South Side Garage. He served in the US Navy, and he was a passionate race fan. He always enjoyed his 66 Nova SS and loved spending time in the sun.
In addition to his parents and wife (Becky) of 23 years, he was preceded in death by his son Dakon Brodmerkel, sister Delores Ross, brothers Joe Brodmerkel & Gary Irwin, and nephews Joseph “Dale” Brodmerkel and Don Brodmerkel.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Fitzpatrick (Rocky River, OH) as well as brothers Robert “Robbie” (Debbie) Brodmerkel, Clay (Bev) Brodmerkel, Dean Brodmerkel, and Ronnie (Deborah) Irwin, and sisters Betty Mitchell and Susan Brodmerkel. He is also survived by brother-in-law Albert “Sonny” (Carol) Weltner and sister-in-law Mary (John) Bickerstaff. He was the grandfather of four grandchildren, Ryan Brodmerkel, Megan Brodmerkel, Jaidyn Cruz, and Morgyn Cruz.
Family and friends are welcome to call Monday, April 22nd from 11:00 – 1:00 PM, at Arner Funeral Chapels Inc., 607 Carolina Ave, Chester, WV 26034. A memorial service will be held at 1:00. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown immediately following the memorial service.
