William “Jay” Mumaw, 66, of Sanford, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly following a history with coronary artery disease, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his mother’s home in Chester.
Born, February 2, 1953, in East Liverpool, he was a son of Shirley Bennett Mumaw of Chester and the late Jack Mumaw.
He was a 1971 graduate of Oak Glen High School and he was currently employed as a Supervisor at General Shale Brick.
Jay was a man of integrity with a strong will, high standards, and remarkable intellect. He had an adventurous and outgoing personality and thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He was an extreme researcher of genealogy and he enjoyed refurbishing old furniture.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Patricia Davis Mumaw; and by his children, William “Billy” Mumaw Jr. and his wife, Dana of Rockhill, SC., Stephen Mumaw and his wife Jill of Aliquippa, PA., Kimberly Blanks of Sanford, NC. And Jessica Mumaw and her fiancé Jeremiah Gray of Goldsboro, NC.; brothers, John Mumaw and his wife Barb of Largo, FL., Jackie Mumaw and his wife Wendy of East Liverpool, OH. and Kevin Mumaw and his significant other, Paula Baumgarner of Chester. He will also be missed by his grandchildren. Parker, Chloe, Kendal, Mackenzie, Kaden, Matthew, Madelyn, Jordan, Sebastian, and Betty.
We’ll celebrate Jay’s life Monday, July 22, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, WV. Interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, 12:00-2:00 PM and 4:00-6:00 PM.
