William S. Thorn

William S. Thorn, 68, of East Liverpool, passed suddenly due to natural causes, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at his residence.

Born, March 16, 1955, in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late Robert Thorn and Betty Humphrey McGurren.

William was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1974. He dedicated 43 years of his life to the steel mill before retiring as Safety Coordinator from Allegheny Ludlum in Midland.

William lived a life of servitude. He was proud to serve as Past Master of East Liverpool Masonic Lodge #681, most currently serving as the treasurer and secretary. He was also a member of The Sons of the American Legion Post 121. 

William will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Diane Wolfe Thorn, whom he married on October 1, 1975.  Left to cherish his memory are his children, Marissa (Paul) Tucker of Huntsburg, OH.  and Shaun (Sarah) Thorn of Berlin Center, OH; grandchildren Macy and Carter Tucker and William and Katelyn Thorn; siblings Robin Aikens, Kenneth (Mary) Thorn, Richard (Denise) Thorn and Rachel Krosky; mother-in-law Margaret Wolfe. 

William was an accomplished and gifted craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands. He made custom pieces for his family and enjoyed creating stained glass windows. He was giving with his time and effort. He believed in the importance of helping others and his legacy will always be one of kindness and compassion. His family, especially his grandchildren, were the light of his life. William was the best “Pap Pap” he absolutely adored his grandchildren. He taught each of them about unconditional love and unwavering support. He would always attend their sporting events and school activities and loved cheering them on.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Arner Funeral Chapel, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
