William Irvin Obituary

William P. Irvin of Weirton passed peacefully at his home in Marland Heights on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

He was the son of the late Eugene N. and Verna M. Glauser Irvin, and Bill was born in Steubenville on June 13, 1945.

Bill was being lovingly cared for at his home by his wife of 24 years, Sharon L. Irvin who survives him along with his step-sons, Del (Kristin) Dingle, and Chris Dingle, and his special granddaughters, Kerrington, Olivia, Camilla, and Emmaline. In addition, he leaves his brother, Dr. John (Judy) Irvin, his sister, Jeanne Krivak of Bowie, MD, and his nieces and nephews, Beth (Thomas) Matanzo, Jack Irvin, David (Shannon) Irvin, Patty (Jim) Conrad, Chris (Joy) Irvin, Jeff (Lisa) Krivak, Ed (Karen) Krivak, and John Krivak. Bill was affectionately known as Bill, Willie, Gomer, Pappy, and Unk.

Bill had a great sense of humor and loved life to the fullest. He enjoyed growing plants and vegetables, cooking, and piddling around the house. In his early days, he loved riding his Harley. Bill worked eighteen years at Signode, and Sixteen years at Koppers, from which he retired. Also, he was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, and he was a graduate of Weirton Madonna High School.

Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. These arrangements have been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to the Amedisys Hospice at 1251 Warwood Ave., Ste B, Wheeling, WV.  26003.
