Stacey M. Smith, 53, of Harrisburg died June 9, 2022, at the UPMC Osteopathic Hospital. She was born May 21, 1969, to Candace L. Clutter and the late Dennis S. Smith.
Stacey grew up in Chester, West Virginia. She was a standout athlete at Hancock County Junior High and Wheeling Park High School and was named an All-American basketball player in 1987.
After high school, Stacey was nominated and received appointment to West Point Military Academy. There she continued to thrive in academics and sports with her fellow cadets. She had a promising military career ahead of her, unfortunately, it was cut short due to a training accident. She eventually had to leave the Academy because of her injury and never fully recovered.
She continued her academics at Case Western Reserve University and Shippensburg University obtaining her B.S. in Marketing in 1993. She began her professional business career at AMP Incorporated, Harrisburg PA as a sales trainee and eventually a sales representative in the Chicago area. Stacey was a multi-talented person and always had a vision and dreamed of what could be for her future. She had an inquisitive mind and was always trying something new. As an entrepreneur, she started her own marketing company The Professional Link. She made friends quickly and shared her passion for all things Army and Patriotism and Pittsburgh Steelers. She strived to exceed expectations professionally and personally with all that she did.
She is survived by her mother and caregiver Candace L. Clutter Harrisburg, PA her emotional support K-9 companion Charlie, sister Stephanie M. Smith-Bevec, Myrtle Beach S.C. Stacey loved dogs and is now reunited with Chelsea, Tucker, and Zoe.
A memorial service with military honors will be on June 22, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
