Shawn A. Marks, 71 of New Cumberland, WV., died May 30, 2021, at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville, OH., following complications of heart bypass surgery.
Shawn was born September 16, 1949, in Christopher, IL., a son of the late Arthur and Shirley Wall Marks.
Shawn graduated from West Frankfort High School in Illinois, and he proudly served his country as a radio operator with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He is a retired truck driver and thoroughbred horse trainer. Shawn was presently working part-time as a peer support counselor for the CAA of Columbiana County, and he was a member of the North Side Community Church in East Liverpool.
In addition to his wife Deborah who he married on September 29, 1990, Shawn is survived by his children, Lola (James) Atkinson of New Cumberland, Shawna Stevens of Thompsonville, IL., Coryll (Travis) Walsh of San Diego, CA., and he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Bovinett. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive as well.
Friends are invited to visit with Shawn’s family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday, June 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His pastor, Larry Rose will celebrate his life at the funeral home on Friday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell where he will be laid to rest with his daughter Rachel and his granddaughter Natalia. The US Navy and the VFW post 6450 and American Legion Post 121 honor guard will accord full military honors during the committal services.
