Rose Amedeo Obituary

East Liverpool, OH.

A warm and gentle soul was welcomed to the gates of heaven today. Rose Marie Amedeo passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Friday, April 20, 2018, after a brief illness.

Rose celebrated her 101st birthday on Tuesday April 3rd. She was born in Wellsville to the late Charles and Catherine Boa Prezzia in the year, 1917.

In addition to her being a loving homemaker to her husband and daughter, her most precious memories were attending to her lovely yard and gardens. Rose loved everyone she ever came in to contact with, her love of people began at an early age as she worked alongside her parents at Prezzia’s Family Grocery Store in Wellsville. Later she worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and Olson’s Department Store in East Liverpool. Rose retired from Waterford Park Race Track where she was a clerk at the admissions gate. A woman of great faith, she was devoted to the Lord our God and his son Jesus Christ. She prayed the Rosary continuously. Rose was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild in Chester.

Her husband of 55 years, Anthony S. Amedeo passed away on December 4, 2003. Rose’s siblings, Dominick, Phillip, Paul, & John Prezzia, Betty Amato, Virginia Crea, Ann Giambroni, and Minnie Gbur also preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Lynn Devroye and her husband Ray of Laurel, Maryland; her grandchildren, Ray Anthony Devroye and his wife, Dru, and Eric Devroye and his wife Suzanne; and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Nicholas, Samuel, and AJ Devroye, and Taylor Bevan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Father Jeeson Stephan will preside over Catholic Funeral Liturgy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 and 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church at 422 Fourth St., Chester, WV.  26034
