Mary A. Savina

Mary A. Savina, 75, of East Liverpool, passed, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Ashtabula Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.

Born, February 15, 1947, in Georgetown, PA., she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Kathryn Newland Reckner.

Mary was recently preceded in death by her loving husband, James Savina. She married James on August 2, 1965.  Mary was also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Duffield, brothers, James and Calvin “Butch” Reckner and by her sister in-law, Delores “Jean” Reckner.

Mary retried from East Liverpool Extended Care where she dedicated many years working as Nurse’s Aide. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Newell and a member of the Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.

Mary’s greatest joy and passion in life centered around her family and friends. She had a beautiful radiant smile and fantastic sense of humor.  She also was genuinely kind, compassionate, patient, and devoted in her relationships with others. She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her son, James Savina Jr. and his wife Traci of East Liverpool; daughter, Crystal Gayle Savina of East Liverpool; siblings, Helen Ziegler of New Waterford OH., Jean Reckner of East Liverpool, Charles Reckner of New Cumberland, Bill Reckner of East Liverpool, Barbara Fulmer of West Virginia, Diane Handy of New Cumberland (Shane), Douglas Reckner of East Liverpool (Becky), Jennie Cyphers of Chester (Bobby); grandson, Tony Savina (Lynnsey) of East Liverpool and great-grandsons, Jameson and Jaxson both of East Liverpool.

Pastor Steve Knisely will celebrate Mary’s life, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 17, 2022, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.
