Mark D. Vermillion, 64 of Chester passed at his home, where he was being lovingly cared for by his family, on Friday, September 8, 2023. He had been diagnosed with a brain tumor a year and a half earlier.
He was the son of the late Jerry and Regina Zavislak Vermillion and was born in Wheeling West Virginia on April 24, 1959.
Mark retired after 29 years from Comcast where he was a supervisor of network maintenance. He was a Catholic by faith and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lisbon, OH. Mark was a 1977 graduate of Oak Glen High School and was enrolled in the electrical engineering department at West Virginia Tech for three years.
Along with his parents, his brother, Dean Vermillion, and childhood friend, Mark Bacon preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memories are his best friend, Diana Lowers Vermillion, his children, Nicole (Rooney) Thomas, and Erica (Billie Jo Volk) Vermillion, his sisters, Elaine (Wayne) Coker of Stewart, VA, Charlene (Rodney) Koset of Pittsboro, NC, and his brother, Guy (Lisa) Vermillion of Burlington, NC. In addition, he leaves five special grandchildren, Isabelle and Makayla Thomas, and Scarlett, Olivia, and Brianna.
Evangelist Rico Brown will celebrate Mark’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with his family at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
