Obituary
Larry M. Metzgar, 83, of Columbiana, passed, Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, following a sudden illness.
Born, June 20, 1939, in Wellsville, he was the son of the late Theodore and Edith Calhoun Peterson.
His beloved wife, Janet Leipper Metzgar, who passed away four days after Larry, on March 15, 2023.
Larry was a graduate of Wellsville High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and later retired from PCC Air Foils in Minerva.
Larry was a former coach for the Junior Bowling League at Salineville Lanes and Tri-State Lanes. He was an avid golfer and shuffleboard player.
Larry is also survived by his son, Michael Metzgar of Wellsville; daughter, Michelle Mcelfresh and her husband, Dean of Chester; stepchildren, Cathy Bartholomew. and her husband, Phil of Lisbon, and Steve Burbick of Columbiana; sister, Sally Heaton of Steubenville; grandchildren, Shayley Pasquarelli (Mark), Jordan Tate (Hugh), Mike Mcelfresh (Dawn), Adam Bartholomew. (Natalie) and Jenna Clark (Kadie) and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Peterson; sister-in-law, Linda Peterson; brother-in-law, Robert Heaton, and nephew, Todd Heaton.
Per Larry’s wishes, no services are planned at this time. He is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
