L. Gene Ankrom, 85, of East Liverpool, passed, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born August 26, 1936, in Weirton, he was the son of the late Earl and Inez R. Shrader Ankrom.
Gene was also preceded in death by his wife of 56years, Betty Heupp Ankrom and by his grandson, Brent Rees Ankrom, sister, Susan Maze and nephew, Kevin Maze.
He was a member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. Gene was very active in the Church, formerly serving as an elder and on several committees.
He was a graduate of Weir High School Class of 1954. Gene was a proud veteran of the West Virginia Army National Guard, serving 6 years. He retired From Sherwin Williams in Weirton, where he worked as the store manager dedicating 28 years. After retiring from Sherwin Williams, he worked 15 years at Walmart in East Liverpool and Power GM in Calcutta.
In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating at Melody Lanes in Hookstown. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, never expecting anything in return. Gene enjoyed being outdoors gardening and watching the birds.
Gene will be deeply missed by his son, Scott Ankrom and his fiancé Laverne Owens of Owings Mill, MD.; daughters, Dee Campbell of Weirton and Dawn Burgess and her husband Bill of Rootstown, OH. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Kaleb and Kyle Campbell and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Vel Vias will celebrate Gene’s life on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 7:00PM, at Arner Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with his family, 2 hours prior to the service from 5:00PM-7:00PM.
