Kathleen Hissam Moore

Kathleen Hissam Moore of Chester passed peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, October 20, 2019, while in the accompaniment of her husband, James Moore.

92 years old, she was born in Wellsburg West Virginia on April 5, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Forrest Armstrong Carman and Martha English Cox Carman.

Retiring from East Liverpool High, Kathleen had taught for 34 years at both Chester High School and East Liverpool High School. She had attended Bethany College and received her undergraduate degree in education from West Liberty University. Also, she received her Master’s in Education degree from West Virginia University. Kathleen was a member of the Chester First United Methodist Church and was a member of the lady’s golf league.

In addition to her husband, James Moore who she married in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 14, 2005. Kathleen will be deeply missed by her daughters, Candace Glass and her husband Brad of Columbiana, and Debra Burks and her husband Robert of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; her grandchildren, Luke (Amanda) Glass, and Logan (Nicole) Glass; her great-grandchildren, Owen Glass, Greyson Glass, Charlotte Glass, Brayden Kell, and Brody Glass; and her nieces and nephews, Kim (Alan) Carman Worthley, Donna Lee, Joann Wilson, Linda (Danny) Allen, Jerry Hissam, John (Cheryl) Hissam, and Bob (Connie) Hissam.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Hissam; and two brothers, Alfred Cox Carman, and Donald Cox Carman.

Her pastor, Rev. Kara Rowe will celebrate Kathleen’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, October 25, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell. Friends are invited to visit with her family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to the Chester First United Methodist Church at 240 Carolina Ave., Chester, WV.  26034.
