Joseph Haynes Obituary

Joseph L. Haynes of Highland Ave. in New Cumberland passed at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, after a brief illness.

81 years old, Joe was one of nine children born to the late William L. and Helen J. Murray Haynes. He was born in East Liverpool on August 11, 1939.

He retired as a welder after 35 years of service from Weirton Steel where he was a member of Weirton Steel’s 25-year club. Joe loved God and music. He worshiped at the Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland, and he was a member of the Strumming Dummies Blue Grass Band. Joe loved dancing with the love of his life, Mary Lou at the R&J Lamplighter Square Dancing Club. He loved to hunt and fish, and he was a member of the New Cumberland Masonic Lodge #22, and the Scottish Rite.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Haynes, his granddaughter, Misty DeSimone, his brother, William F. Haynes, and his sister, Karen Givens.

Joe leaves his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Wigner Haynes, his children, Bonnie Jo Haynes of Salem, WV., and Jacqueline Lou Haynes of New Cumberland, his grandchildren, Lynsey DeSimone, Lacie Haynes, Josie (James) Miller, and Aries Headman, and great-grandchildren, Waylon, Abby Jo, Micaiah, Emily, Wally, and Liam. His surviving siblings are, Richard Haynes of Cincinnati, OH. Ronald Haynes of Scott Depot, WV., Daniel Haynes of Phoenix, AZ., Mary Archer of Martinsburg, WV., Juanita “Twinkle” Smith of New Manchester, WV., and Lisa Haynes of Weirton. Several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews survive as well.

Joe’s pastor, Sharmune Burgess will celebrate his life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Friends are invited to visit with his family at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to service on Sunday.
