Johnny Lee Helmick of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on December 5, 1947, in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Delman and Paula (Sanford) Helmick, he enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from Oak Glen High School and served in both South Korea and Vietnam. He retired from Ball Corporation. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Romney "Lee" Helmick.
He is survived by his three daughters, Theresa (Tom) Stewart of Colliers, Virginia Brady of Toronto, Brittni (Brandon) Scott of Weirton; his stepdaughter Amy (Aaron) Newman of Brecksville, Ohio, two stepsons Eric and Dustin Vuiller of Weirton, his foster son David (Samantha) Jones of Newnan, Georgia, two sisters Lynn (Jim) Skiba, of Woodbine, Georgia and Anita(Shaun) Cline of Cumming, Georgia, five grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Johnny was a true patriot and took great pride in the following generations choosing to serve their country. He was a much loved and respected man who didn't know an enemy or a stranger. He loved all things aviation, being outdoors with nature and playing video games with his best friend and grandson Liam.
In addition to being the absolute best Dad and PapPap, Johnny was a straight shooter and would ask that in lieu of any flowers or donations, that everyone simply be kind to one another, take not one moment for granted, enjoy your family and friends... Live life to the fullest and take the time to notice and appreciate all of the little things life has to offer.
