John Delbert Cline, 94, formerly of Chester, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Madison Rehab Center in Morgantown.
Born July 4, 1929, in New Cumberland, he was the last living child of the late Ray and Laura Belle Cameron Cline. John was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Sheets Cline, whom he married on January 10, 1955, and cared for her for the last 11 years as she battled illnesses. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Evelyn (Michael) Brehm of Morgantown; his granddaughters, Jacqueline (Jared) Grim and Angela (Scott) DeMoss; and his great grandchildren, Maya Grim and Deacon Grim. He is also survived by brother, Dan (Betty) Barton and sister, Nancy (Larry) DeRosa.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Delposan, Dorabelle Strum, and Betty Nagy; brothers, Ray Cline, Tom Cline, Harry “Jim” Cline, Donald Cline, Dave Cline, and Bill Barton.
From an early age, John had the drive and desire to work hard. He began his career young on the railroad, and he retired from Globe Brick. He was formerly on the Board of Directors of Steel Works Credit Union. He was a Methodist by faith and made friends with all those he met. He was an active man, who especially enjoyed hunting, walking, mowing and working in the garden - planting and harvesting. He also found joy in visiting with family and friends and square dancing in his free time.
We will celebrate John’s life on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Arner Funeral Chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family 2 hours before the service from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. A special thank you to Harmony, Madison Rehab Center, and WVU Hospice, who provided comfort during his last moments of life.
