Janice A. Cox

Janice A. Cox, 69 of New Cumberland, WV., passed peacefully while in the loving care of her family at her home on Thursday, November 10, 2022, following a seven-month illness.

Janice was born to the late John and Helen Fristick Giangulio in Steubenville on November 8, 1953.

Janice was a humble giving soul. She once worked at the school of Bright Promise and often brought students home to share in her family life. She volunteered for the Salvation Army, and she and her husband Butch were part of the New Cumberland Food pantry, helping to feed local residents in need. Janice was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland and its Ladies Guild. She often attended the New Manchester Christian Church where her husband Butch is a member. Janice’s favorite memories were of time spent with family and the joy it brought. Also, she loved to read and go antiquing. Janice worked as a medical transcriptionist, and she was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School.

She leaves her husband, Eugene E. (Butch) Cox Jr. who she married on August 14, 1976, her son, Benjamin J. cox of Pittsburgh, and her daughter, Aimee E. (Matthew) Pellegrino of Oklahoma City, Ok.

Father Bill Matheny will preside for a memorial Catholic Funeral Liturgy at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland on Wednesday, November 16, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the New Cumberland Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Tuesday, November 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Her family will conduct an additional service at 7:30 p.m. Following the interment services, a gathering of food and fellowship will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church. It is suggested that contributions be made in Janice’s name to the New Cumberland Food Closet.
