Harry Smith Obituary

Harry R. Smith, 73, of King City, CA., passed, Thursday, March 24, 2022.  

Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 17, 1948 to Harry H. Smith and Wanda J. Logston Smith.  He was the oldest of 4 children.  The family lived in Chester, WV where he attended grade school and Oak Glen High (Class of 1967).

Sept. of 1967 he entered the U.S. Army serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam.  After returning from overseas he was transferred to Fort Ord, Monterey, CA then to Hunter Liggett, Jolon, CA.  After receiving his Honorable Discharge he worked for Basic Vegetables, Union Carbide and KCAC.

In 1985 he became a painting contractor, also working in property management for various estates. He retired in 2002.

He enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, fishing, and watching football (forever a Steelers Fan).

Harry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cathy Taylor Smith; daughter, Laurie Gay (David) of King City; son, Dustin Smith (Rea) of Paso Robles, CA; grandchildren, Alyssa Gaboni (Robert) of King City, Taylor Williams (Caitlin) of Redding, CA; great grandchildren, Adelyn, Jaxson and Avalyn Gaboni, Scarlett Williams; mother, Wanda J. Smith and sister Chris Smith, both of Chester, WV; sister, Patty Lyons of Baltimore, MD; nephews, Jason Pugh of Moon Township, PA and Zack Smith of CA; many cousins and extended family in the Chester area.

Preceded in death by his father, Harry H. Smith and brother, Kip A. Smith.

The family would like any donations be made to, Hitchcock Rd. Animal Services, Salinas, CA, SPCA Monterey County or Woods Humane Society, San Luis Obispo, C

Pastor Dirk Hall will celebrate Harry’s life, Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00AM, in the Chapel at Locust Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Arner Funeral Chapel.
