Goldie "Joyce" Walters

Goldie “Joyce” Walters, 65, of Hookstown, passed, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice Heritage Valley Beaver, following a lengthy illness.

Born, October 14, 1958, in Hoboken, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Florence Haybarger Kirkwood.

Joyce was a graduate of New Castle High School. She attended New Castle School of Cosmetology and became a beautician. Joyce owned and operated her own salon for many years.  She adored her clients and making a woman look her best brought her great joy. Joyce enjoyed spending time outdoors but most importantly spending time with her family. She had a special love for her horses and was a member of the Hookstown Grange 4H Club. Joyce was also a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.  

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 30 years, Raymond Walter; daughter, Kelly Hughes and her husband, Christopher of Monaca; son, Aric Walters of Hookstown and grandchildren, Jackson, Sylvia, and Owen Walters, CJ, Stella, and Aiden Hughes and Haleigh Wilson.

Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Kirkwood. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Joyce is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
