George E. Schmidt

George E. Schmidt of Georgetown Pennsylvania, passed peacefully at his home on Friday, August 4, 2023. He had been in failing health for some time.

81 years old, George was born in Pittsburgh on February 12, 1942. He was one of four children born to the late George and Stella Hohman Schmidt.

He shared a wonderful relationship with his wife of 55 years, Mary Bailey Schmidt. Together they traveled near and far to attend Bluegrass and Country music festivals. Humbled and reserved, George was always ready to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. He loved his church family at the Grace Bible Church in East Liverpool where he attended with Mary. George was a retired machinist with Testa Machines in Slovan, PA, and he was a proud veteran of the US Army.

Along with his parents, his brother, James Schmidt, and his sister, Cathy Goletz preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Bailey Schmidt at home, his children, Lori Ann Schmidt of Beaver, PA, and Frederick and David Schmidt of Ohio, his sister, Nancy Hohman of North Carolina, his brother, Harvey Schmidt, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

His friends and pastors, Tom Schneidmiller and Al Mobley will celebrate George’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Tuesday, August 8, at 5:00 p.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the services at 5:00 p.m.
