Gary T. Oakes

Gary T. Oakes, 71, of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly, Friday, May 29, 2020.

Born, January 24, 1949, in East Liverpool, OH., he was a son of the late Clifford T. and Edna Stanley Oakes.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Christine Mills Oakes.

Gary was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1967 and he attended Kent State University.

Gary retired from LT Harnett, where he worked as a truck driver. He was most known for being the “Train Master”, at the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame.

Gary was a warm, kind, and generous man. He was outgoing and had a great sense of humor.

Gary will be deeply missed by his children, Eric Mills and his wife Lorie of East Liverpool, Aaron Oakes and his fiancé Tia Adkins of East Liverpool and daughter, Cazzi Shilts and her husband Richard of Akron; brothers, Mark Oakes and his wife, Amy of Greenfield, IN., Todd Oakes of East Liverpool; sisters, Diane Truelson and her husband Al, Medina, OH. and Marcie Oakes and her husband Mark Wolfe of East Liverpool; grandchildren, Camden and Kallie Oakes; Special companion Theresa James. 

Friends may visit with Gary’s family, Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the Arner Funeral Chapel, from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM.
