Francis "Gene" Eugene Conto

Francis Eugene Conto, 78, of East Liverpool, passed, Monday, March 22, 2021, at West Penn Hospital, due to complications with COVID-19.

Born, July 8, 1942, in Hyde Park, PA., he was a son of the late Charles Francis and Genevieve Conto. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, and Edward Conto.

Gene worked as a Jockey at Waterford Park from 1965-1974, he also worked in the Maintenance Department at Bruce Mansfield Plant from 1978- 2006.

He was a member of the Newell Methodist Church in Newell, WV. Gene was a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, and bird watching. He was a phenomenal man, who more than cared about his entire family. His life was his family, whether work or play, and he always made his family his top priority. He was approachable and well-liked by everyone, Gene loved to laugh and have you laugh with him.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Phyllis Coss Conto; sons, Keith Conto of East Liverpool, Kevin Conto of Camden, SC., Brian Conto of Rogers, OH. and Brad Conto of East Liverpool; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Loucille Gvoth of Cabot, PA., Linda Moran of Hyde Park, PA., Pam Conto of Cheswick, PA. and Theola Balash of Natrona Heights, PA.

Per Gene’s wishes, no services are planned at this time. Gene is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
