Eugene W. “Whimp” Cullifer,91, of Chester passed peacefully at his home on Friday, December 31, 2021, due to complications with Parkinson’s disease.
Born August 3, 1930, in Drumright, OK., he was the son of the late James and Mable Sayre Cullifer.
He retired as a payroll clerk at Macintosh-Hemphill Steel in Midland, and along with his wife, owned and operated the Foliage House Florist and Green House in Hookstown.
Whimp was a graduate of the former Chester High School Class of 1948. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army stationed in Germany. Whimp served during the Korean Conflict as a Military Police Officer. He was a member of the Chester American Legion Post 121, and VFW Post 6450. Whimp played in the Chester Softball League. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan. Attending Pirate games at Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium. Whimp enjoyed attending Pirate spring training in Bradenton, FL. while visiting his daughter Cindy and grandson Christopher.
Along with his parents, his wife, Shirley Jean Cullifer, his sister, Pauline Tams, and his brothers, James Ralph Cullifer and Lawrence Cullifer preceded him in death.
Whimp leaves his children, Karen Mansker of Kiel, WI., and Cindy Lloyd of Chester, and his grandchildren, Travis, and Damien Mansker, and Christopher Lloyd.
Pastor Dirk Hall will celebrate Whimp’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens where the Chester VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard and the US Army will accord full military honors. The family would like to extend an invitation for food and fellowship at the VFW in Chester directly after the services. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday morning, 1 hour prior to the service.
