Donald “Mass” Miller Obituary

Donald “Mass” Lewis Miller, 70, of Hollywood Drive passed away at home from cancer on March 12, 2023.  Mass was the son of the late Robert Elmo Miller and Margaret Rachel “Peggy” Miller, born on May 6, 1952.  A lifetime area resident, he was a devout Christian, a hardworking family man, and a graduate of Wellsville High School Class of 1970.

Mass had a vivacious energy and he would light up a room with laughter through his storytelling and joking.  He worked as a supervisor at Whemco Steel Mill and retired from WTI/Heritage.  Mass looked for opportunities to share his testimony as he was a member of NorthSide Community Church, actively engaged in Men’s Bible Study and teaching Sunday School.  His mentor and friend Pastor Larry (Marge) Rose played a huge role in his life, and Mass wrote, “If there is a moral to my story it would have to be to never, never give up on getting someone saved.”

Mass will be deeply missed by his wife, Marla Lee (Marple) Miller.  Marla has been an immense blessing in his life for 44 years, the “most wonderful person” he had ever met.  Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his son Silas James Miller and also will be greatly missed by his daughter BethAnne (Emmanuel) Rettos of Wellsville with grandchildren Silas Nicholas, Luke Miller, and Abram Emmanuel; Starrlynn Rachelle (Joshua) Lewis of Mansfield with grandchildren Dakota McKenzie, Hailey Saryn, and Gracie Kentan and great granddaughter Freya Noelle; Justin Ryan (Erin) Miller of East Liverpool with grandchildren Teagen Lee Ann and Sage Ryan; Jordan Christopher Miller of Columbiana with granddaughter Alexandria Rae; and Chad Lewis (Cella) Miller of Washington, PA, with grandchildren Nolan Alvin and Giada Celine.  He will be sadly missed by many more family and friends, including his siblings:  Bob (Martha) Miller [Bob, Andy, Sara, and Matthew with Zachary preceding in death]; Keith (Susie) Miller [Crystal and Eric]; Mark (Lou) Miller [John Mark, Hannah, Joshua, Rachel, Jessica and Seth]; and Susan (Jeff) Haugh [Lindsy, Lauren, and Louie].  Mass was deeply cared for by his wife’s siblings:  Donald Lynn (Pamela Jo) Marple [Jody Marple, Rachel McSweeney, Abbie Kramer, and
Kellie Pesola]; Pamela Sue Swanson [Alan Swanson].

A celebration of his life will be held at NorthSide Community Church on Tuesday March 14th from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with the service on Wednesday at 11AM.
