Obituary

Charles Ernest "Ernie" Blosser

Ernie Blosser of Lisbon Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, April 29, 2023, at

Salem West Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Born in Portland, Ohio January 3, 1938, son of the late Ira and Virginia Blosser, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 30 years, Bonnie Blosser.

Ernie attended Salineville and Wellsville schools and enlisted in the Army, stationed in Fort Wyandotte, Michigan.

He was an independent contractor, forming his own trucking company, hauling coils to Chicago and Michigan for six decades, covering well over a million miles, and retiring at 83 years old. Among many other safe driving awards, he was commended by PGT in

2020 for "his professional demeanor, hard work and commitment to safety, that allowed him to drive for 61 years without a preventable accident, as well as outstanding in his profession, particular about his equipment and the way he did his job."

Besides his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by three sons, Larry Blosser (Vicky), David Blosser (Donna), both of East Liverpool, Ernie Blosser (Rhonda) of Hanoverton, stepdaughter, Melissa Smolira (Kurt), and a son in law, Jim Yaskanich.

Granddaughters, Andrea Blosser Moore, Nicole Blosser, grandsons Alex, Joseph, Eric, and a great-granddaughter Megan Moore. Also, step-grandchildren Kaleb (Kayla) and Kolby Smolira.

Also surviving are two sisters, Norma Freeman of East Liverpool, and Rosemary Byers, and a sister-in-law, Brenda Blosser both of Wellsville.

Ernie was preceded in death by his former wife, Peggy Blosser, brothers Larry Blosser of Howard, Ohio, Russell Blosser of Wellsville, and a stepdaughter Shari Yaskanich, whom he loved like a daughter.

Ernie had a great sense of humor and loved talking and telling stories. He had friends all along his truck routes and never knew a stranger. A son once commented when with him, "Do you know everyone?" All three of his sons drive and maintain their own steel trucks, just as their father did. He was a good, hard-working man. He will be missed!

Per Ernie's wishes, no services are planned currently. He is in the care of Arner Funeral Chapel.
