Caroline Jean Cornell

Caroline Jean Cornell, formerly of Chester and more recently of DeLand, FL., passed at the Florida Lutheran Retirement Center in DeLand on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Newell, and Chester, Jean was born in Newell on March 28, 1926. 95 years old, she was a daughter of the late Gallie and Stella Full Osburn.

A loving homemaker, earlier, Jean had worked at area potteries. A loyal and faithful member of the Chester First United Presbyterian Church, Jean loved walking and bowling with her friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred E. Cornell on December 9, 2011, and by her siblings, Carl, Fred, and Allen Osburn, and Betty Connelly.

Surviving is her sons, Randy (Diana) Cornell of Orange City, FL., and Scott (Nancy) Cornell of Navarre, FL. Also, surviving are her grandchildren, Lori Bainbridge, Mara Cornell, Mike Cornell, Matt Cornell, and Heather Layton, and great-grandchildren, Stella Rayne Bainbridge, Scarlett Bainbridge, and Morgan Francica, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jean’s niece, Barbara Quick will celebrate her life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Tuesday evening, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. Private interment, will be Wednesday morning at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester. Friends are invited to visit with Jean’s family at the funeral home on Tuesday, two hours prior to the service, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
