Barbara Jean Zook Montgomery

Barbara “Barb” Jean Zook Montgomery, 75, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday morning in her home on Richardson Ave.

Barb was born June 2, 1945, in East Liverpool, was a 1963 graduate of ELHS, and a lifetime resident and Potter fan. She was the daughter of Harry Zook and Dorothy Birch Zook.

Barb spent the final 15 years of her life better known as “Grammy”. She spent those loving years watching and supporting her grandchild, Jake, as he excelled in baseball and basketball. Not only her grandchild, but the entirety of the team, would rely on Grammy to provide drinks, candy, and endless support at each and every game.

Prior to earning the Grammy moniker, Barb was a lover of crafts. She enjoyed creating decorations for all occasions that will continue to adorn the homes of her family for years to come. Barb’s happiest place on earth was the back porch with friends and family. A bench swing, comfy chairs, and conversation was all that was needed to put a smile on her face.

 Barb is survived by two daughters, Leigh Ann Smith and husband Dean of East Liverpool, and Michelle Lawson and husband Mike of Orrville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Jordan Smith, and Jenna McCoy and her husband Mike.

 She also leaves behind one sister, Ann McMillan and husband Charles “Chick”; six nephews, Ryan Montgomery, Jonathan Montgomery, Scott McMillan, Jeff McMillan, Michael Montgomery, and David Montgomery; sister-in-law, Arden Montgomery; and sister-in-law, Kathy Montgomery.

 In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by former husband, Gary Montgomery, and brother-in-law, Bill Montgomery.

Friends and family are welcome to partake in a celebration of Barb’s life to be held at the home of Arden Montgomery on Sunday, May 16th at 2pm.
