Barbara Ann Pugh

December 14, 1933 ~ August 5, 2023 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Obituary

Barbara Ann (Inky) Pugh passed away on August 4, 2023.  She was born on December 14, 1933, to Wilda Cosgrove Asher and Earl Asher and was a lifelong resident of the Chester area. She spoke often of her love for the beautiful green hills of West Virginia. Barbara graduated in 1951 from Chester High School, where she was a cheerleader, and later that year married the love of her life, Paul E. Pugh.

Barbara was joyful and fun-loving, and a marvelous cook.  She was generous and giving to everyone and unfailingly pleasant. She was friendly and loved to talk with everyone she met.  She especially loved to cook for family get-togethers where her pies were legendary. Family was everything to Barbara.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  After the loss of her sisters, Patricia Ross, and Jackie Grier, she found comfort in the love and support of her nieces and nephews and their children who she called “the kids.” Beloved nieces, Libby Keller, and Heather Hall made sure their Aunt Barb had plenty of fun as she grew older.  A close relationship with her dear cousin, Judy Mobley, provided love and fellowship as they shopped and had lunch together.

In addition to her parents and sisters Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, who died in the Covid pandemic in 2021.  She always will be dearly loved and sorely missed by her daughters Penny Pugh of Morgantown West Virginia, Terry Simmons and husband Jim of Virginia Beach Virginia, granddaughter Elizabeth Young of San Francisco, and nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of The Orchards Peachtree Inn and Pepperberry Suites for their kindness and support over the last few years and Dr. Amar Khurana and his practice for providing excellent health care.  These services have been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
