Albert “James” Beal, 67, a lifelong resident of Salineville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019, at the East Liverpool City Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born, December 3, 1952, in Salem, he was a son of the late Earl and Hilda Javens Beal. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Javens.
James attended Southern Local High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and he served his country as a member of the 44TH Engineers Broken Heart Battalion, during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea.
He was an avid Ham Radio operator and spent many happy hours communicating with Ham Radio enthusiasts all over the world. His code name was "N8RAK",
He was also a member of Columbiana County EMA team to help with communications.
James will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Diana Wedge Beal; sons, Gary Ludt of Wellsville, Jessie Ludt of Chippewa, PA., Russell Lightner of Salineville and Howard Lightner of Columbus; daughter, Patty Exline and her husband George of Wellsville; James’ twin brother, Henry Beal and his wife Sue of Hanoverton, Silas Beal and his wife Virginia of Salineville and Charlie Javens of Bicknell, WV.; sister, Carrie Higgins of WV.; 8 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the family’s convenience. The Arner Funeral Chapel was entrusted with James’ arrangements.
