Thomas E. Gill, 86 of East Liverpool and formerly of Cleveland passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 30, 2018.
A son of the late John and Anna Golden Gill, Tom was born in Cleveland on August 27, 1931.
He was a retired pipefitter out of Union Local #120 in Cleveland. Tom was a project supervisor for the Foster-Wheeler Company at the Bruce Mansfield plant in Shippingport.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius in East Liverpool. Tom loved flying radio-controlled planes, he was a member of the Centaur RC Club and the Mahoning Valley RC Club. Also, he was a proud veteran of the US Navy where he served as an ordinance striker on several aircraft carriers during the Korean Conflict.
His loving wife, Joyce Gill, preceded him in death on September 30, 2014. Also passing away before him was his sister, Margaret Kelly, and his brother, Joe Gill.
Tom will be deeply missed by his daughters, Eileen Mrkal and her husband Milan of Moon Township, PA., Jeanne Arner and her husband Doug of Chester, and Ellen Merriman and her husband Kevan of East Liverpool. Also surviving are his brothers, John Gill of Cleveland, Brendan (Joyce) Gill of Vermillion, OH., and Jim (Judy) Gill of Cleveland; and his brothers-in-law, Craig (Tammy) Gute of East Liverpool, and Christopher (Carolyn) Gute of Lakewood, OH. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive as well.
Father Peter Haladej will preside for Catholic Funeral Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Parish in East Liverpool on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park where the full military honors will be accorded. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, August 3 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to Hospice of the Valley @hospiceofthevalley.com.
