Shane M. Curtis

November 15, 1982 ~ January 12, 2018 (age 35) 35 Years Old

Shane Mikel Curtis,

Shane, beloved son of Cynthia Loveland Curtis and the late Steven W. Curtis died, Jan. 12, 2018.

He was born in East Liverpool on Nov. 15, 1982. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and Kent State University, majoring in Criminal Justice. He served his internship with the Youngstown Parole Board and after graduation went to North Dakota to work in the prison system. In order to come back to this area to be closer to his friends and family, he took a job at Columbia Gas, las working in corrosion. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan, and loved music, especially from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Shane was preceded in death by his father, Steven W. Curtis, his son Cole, his sister Shannon C. Curtis, his maternal grandparents Theodore and Roberta Loveland, his paternal grandfather George Jurkovac, two uncles, Timothy and Thomas Loveland and his Aunt Jane.

He is survived by his mom, his maternal uncles Ted, Terry, Steve and Greg (Kay) Loveland, his paternal grandmother Beverly Curtis, paternal uncle Mike Pelly and Aunt Sandy Hardy from Florida, many cousins, his caring and supportive friends from Columbia Gas, and a special group of childhood friends who traveled the road of being young with him. He also leaves behind his fur babies he loved as his children, Lexi, Sasha and Jude and his fur brother Ralph, his saving grace after his father’s death.

Shane loved Beaver Creek State Park and enjoyed hiking there with his mom growing up. He found great comfort and peace in its beauty. His family asks that any memorial tributes be made to Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, P.O. Box 2063, East Liverpool, OH. 43920 in memory of Shane.

Shane died from a wounded heart which started with the painful life and death of his baby sister and increased with each loss he suffered. Depression cannot be cured by love alone.

His family has entrusted Shane’s care and cremation with the Arner Funeral Chapel but there will be no services or calling hours because his mom can’t do any more funerals. If you are a friend or a loved one just look up and say “Hey” and tell him, you will miss him.

“There is no coming to heaven with dry eyes” Thomas Fuller
