Ruthela VanFossen, 92, of Chester, passed away, Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born, January 26, 1925, in Newell, WV., she is a daughter of the late Charles and Elenora Gower Kell.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Ira VanFossen; sisters, Anna Sayre and Betty Jane Clenndenning and brother, Charles Kell.

Ruthela was a Chester High School graduate.

She was the business owner of Inn Town Motel for many years and she was an avid bowler for the East Liverpool Women’s Bowling Association.

She is survived by her son, James “Rabbit” VanFossen and his wife, Vanessa of Chester; grandson, Max Vanfossen and by a special niece, Tammy Ballerstein.

We will celebrate Ruthela’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
