Rodney W. Koon, 57 of Chester passed away at the Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville on Friday, June 8, 2018, following a lengthy illness.
He was a son of Joyce Rhodes Pirkkala of Chester and the late Larry Koon. Rodney was born in Weirton on October 15, 1960.
He owned and operated the Time and Temperature phone operation in East Liverpool for several years. Also, he at one time owned Timeco Taxi in Calcutta and the first ATT&T cellular phone store in the area. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, he was a 1978 graduate of Oak Glen High School, and he was a former member of the Chester and Calcutta Volunteer Fire Departments.
In addition to his mother, he survived by his children, Rebecca (Jarad) Ankeny, and Veronica Koon, both of Tennessee, Tabby Randolph, and Andrea Koon, of East Liverpool and Jennie McDole of Chester; and two brothers, Randy Koon, and Craig (Deanna) Hart of Chester. Ten grandchildren survive as well.
Evangelist Ricco Brown will celebrate Rodney’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Tuesday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
