Rev. Delmar C. Logston of New Cumberland passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, following a brief illness.
86 years old, he was born in Chester, where he spent most of his life, on November 24, 1932. He was one of ten children born to the late Dana and Zona Delee Arnott Logston.
A retired minister, he had preached at the Emmanuel Mission near Chester, Beechwood Free Methodist Church, Wellsville Free Methodist Church, New Cumberland Free Methodist Church, Princeton, WV. Free Methodist Church, Hookstown Free Methodist Church, Oakland Free Methodist Church, and lastly, at the Campground Community Church. He was a 1951 graduate of the former Chester High School where he was a member of the baseball team.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Lura J. Logston on April 22, 2019; two children, Darlene Walker, and Matthew Logston; one granddaughter, Charity Bragg; his brothers, Leroy, Kenneth, Robert, Hugh, and William Logston; and his sister, Dorothy Mehaffy.
Delmar leaves his loving family, children, Keith (Barbara) Logston of Newell, Daniel (Karen) Logston of New Cumberland, Diana Mandich of Weirton, Hope (Dan Turkaly) Allison of New Cumberland, Harry (Dee) Logston of Chester, Dela Sue (Kenny) Clark, Dana (Phyllis) Logston of Chester, and Timothy (Jennifer) Logston of East Liverpool; his sisters, Frances Lee, Beatrice Sgro, and Martha DeCapio; nineteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday afternoon and evening at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where they will be present from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct services at the funeral home on Monday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service’s, he will be laid to rest with his wife Lura at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester.
