Ralph William Fatherly of New Cumberland, passed away at the Lancia Villa Vista assisted living in Steubenville, on Friday, February 16, 2018.

Ralph was a life-long resident of the New Cumberland area, and he was born in Steubenville on October 7, 1951. 66 years old, he was a son of the late Harold M. and Glenna Chenoweth Fatherly.

He especially adored his grandchildren and found the greatest joy in life when surrounded by his very close-knit family. He was a 1969 graduate of Oak Glen High School.

Ralph was a dispatcher in the transportation department at Weirton Steel, before retiring, and he was a member of the First Christian Church in New Manchester. An outdoorsman in every sense of the word, Ralph enjoyed everything life had to offer, including hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, boating, and motorcycling. He also loved woodworking in his shop.

In addition to his parents, he was devastated by the loss of his close family members, grandson, Ian Scott Fatherly, sister, Rachael Konchar, and close friend and mother of his children, Scott & Gretchen, Carol May Fatherly Miller.

Heartbroken, but left many good memories, are his family, Children, Scott Fatherly and his wife Holly of New Cumberland, Gretchen Heizler and her husband, Mark of New Manchester, and Morgan Jones-Cooper and her husband Mark of East Liverpool; his sister, Brenda Gregory and her husband Benny of New Manchester; brother-in-law will Konchar of New Manchester; his grandchildren, Carley & Clayton Heizler, and Ayden Fatherly, and many nieces and nephews.

Hospice chaplain, Dana Campbell will celebrate Ralph’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, February 18 from 12:00-2:00 and 4:00- 6:00 p.m.
