Weirton, WV.

Lura J. Logston, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton on Monday, April 22, 2019, following a lengthy illness.

83 years old, Lura was one of several children born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Frank Lockhart in Woodsfield, OH. She was born on May 23, 1935.

A homemaker to her loving family, Lura was kept busy with the responsibilities of being a minister’s wife. Her husband, who survives at home, Rev. Delmar C. Logston, served at several churches in the tri-state area as well as in Princeton, WV. Lura was always active and involved in all aspects of the church’s that they served. She and Delmar were currently members of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church in East Liverpool, where Delmar once served as the pastor.

Preceded in death by her parents, she also suffered the unfortunate loss of two children, Darlene Walker, and Matthew Logston. One granddaughter, Charity Bragg; as well as several brothers, and sisters, also preceded her in death.

As was mentioned before, she is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Delmar C. Logston who she married on August 9, 1952. Together they raised nine wonderful children, Keith (Barbara) Logston of Newell, Daniel (Karen) Logston of New Cumberland, Diana Mandich of Weirton, Hope (Dan Turkaly) Allison of New Cumberland, Harry (Dee) Logston of Chester, Sue (Kenny) Clark of New Cumberland, Dana (Phyllis) Logston of New Cumberland, and Timothy (Jennifer) Logston of East Liverpool. One sister, Lenora Wolfe of Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, also survive.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday, April 25, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Pastor Norman W. Eckert will conduct services at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester.
