Joshua R. Moody of New Cumberland passed away at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville on Thursday evening, November 16, 2017, after being diagnosed with cancer in April of this year.

40 years old, Josh was a lifelong resident of the Chester area. He was born in East Liverpool on April 18, 1977. Josh was a son of Curtis McGurren and his wife Kim of Chester and Carol Mayes Shepherd and her husband Frank of New Cumberland.

Also, Josh spent many memorable days at his sons’ baseball games, often keeping the scorebook for the team, and he was a former member of the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Josh had a compassionate soul, and he helped in relief efforts during hurricane Katrina.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert L. Mayes.

In addition to his parents, family members left to cherish his memories, are his longtime companion, Christina Woolley and their son Dominic at home; his maternal grandmother, Maryann Mayes of Chester; his brother, Jared Moody and his wife Penny of Chester, his sister, Kylie McGurren of Chester; his step-siblings, Franklin Andrew Shepherd, Bradley Shepherd, and Brandi Shepherd Kopas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
