John E. Garver, 83, passed away suddenly at his apartment on Sixth St. in East Liverpool on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.
Born in East Liverpool on October 4, 1935, he was a son of the late John and Grace Bailey Garver.
A lifelong resident of East Liverpool, John was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and a member of the East Liverpool Alumni Association. He retired from the former Crucible Steel in Midland, and he was veteran of the US Marine Corps. John was a staunch supporter and volunteer of the Way Station in East Liverpool.
Along with his parents, one brother, Irving Garver preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Tina Shafer and her husband David of Salem, John D. Garver and his wife Patty of East Liverpool; his stepson, Russell Lovell of East Palestine; and his grandchildren, Beka and Bethany Shafer, David and Robert Garver, Michelle Watson, Michael Brown, Anthony Hunt, and Amanda Hunt. Several great-grandchildren survive as well as does his former wife and best friend, Elizabeth Shindelar.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, May 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where Pastor Craig Knight will conduct services on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Rogers.
