James F. Byers, 93, formerly of West Alexander, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV.
Born, March 22, 1925, in Warwood, WV., he was a son of the late Frank Lawson Byers and Ida White.
James was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Lucille Coufman Byers in April 2010. They were married for 63 years.
He was a proud World War II Army veteran, where he worked as a motor sergeant.
James was a carpenter by trade and a member of the local #3 out of Wheeling. He was recently recognized for his 70th year as a member.
James was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
James leaves behind his children, Richard Byers of Cameron, WV., Robert Byers of Graysville, PA., Jeraldine Byers of Chester, Jacqueline Byers of Washington, PA . and James (Lizz) Byers of Cameron, WV.; sisters, Francis Smith of Sardis, OH. And Shirley Barr of Washington, PA.; and he will be deeply missed by his 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Rev. Katrina Lewis will officiate a memorial service for James on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 1:00 PM, at the West Alexander Presbyterian Church in West Alexander. He donated his body to human gift registry at WVU. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Alexander Volunteer Fire Dept. and American Legion Post #656 in West Alexander. The Arner Funeral Chapel assisted with making these arrangements.
