Dorothy Shafer

Dorothy Shafer, 92, of East Liverpool, passed away, Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Calcutta Health Care.

Born, November 10, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marguerite Mockler Garn.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vernon Shafer and by her son Vernon Shafer Jr.; brothers, Leland and Harold Garn; sisters, Edith Howard, Betty Young, and Kathleen Weekley.

She was a Presbyterian by faith and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary #736.

Dorothy will be missed by her daughter, Vicki Shafer of East Liverpool; grandson, Christopher Mason and his wife Stephanie of Erie, PA., granddaughter, Kelly Amato and her husband Jack of East Liverpool. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Alexander Mason of Erie, PA. and Nevin Shafer of East Liverpool.

 The family would like to thank everyone at Calcutta Health Care Center and Community Hospice, who were all so kind and caring for my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We very much appreciate everything you did.

Per Dorothy’s wishes, no services are planned, and the Arner Funeral Chapel was entrusted with making her arrangements.
