Donald E. Brown, 90 of Chester was called to his heavenly reward on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. He passed with his ever-attentive family at his side at the Stone Pear Pavilion where he had resided for the past year.
Born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1929, he was a son of the late Chauncey and Ethel Harper Brown.
Don retired in 1992 from Hancock County Schools where he worked for 30 years as a bus driver and for 10 of those years he also worked as a mechanic. He was a faithful member and a deacon of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ in East Liverpool and he was a past member of the South Side Athletic League where he had served as the district director of baseball.
Along with his parents, one brother, George Brown, and sisters, Hazel Kirk, Dorothy Campbell, Gladys Masquelier and Beulah McConnell, preceded him in death.
Don leaves his loving wife, Sophia Mayes Brown and his children, Cathy Ash of Chester, Donald Brown Jr. (Bambi) of Chester, and Randall (Sharon) Brown of East Liverpool; Four grandchildren, John Ash, Joe (Diana) Ash, Jennifer Lemley and Donald Brown III; 8 great-grandchildren, Sharadyn, Taiyah, Colton and Bailey Ash, Christopher and Michael Lemley, Alexia and Anthony Brown and one great-great-grandchild, Cataleya Mancini.
Don’s pastor Evangelist Will Montgomery will celebrate his life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday when his family will be present from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
