David Klakos Obituary

David E. Klakos, 64 of New Cumberland, passed away at Weirton Medical Center on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, following a lengthy illness.

A son of Helen L. Martin Klakos of New Cumberland and the late Edward Joseph Klakos, David was born in Steubenville on February 8, 1955.

He retired as a carpenter and side trimmer from Arcelor Mittal Steel in Weirton. David was a Christian by faith and a 1973 graduate of Oak Glen High School where he was a standout member of the football team. A huge football fan, he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers. After graduating from Oak Glen, David attended West Virginia University. A true country boy at heart, he loved to pick mushrooms and blackberries, and he was very proud of his large beer can collection that was 2000 cans strong. Also, David was quite a car buff, his collection consisted of a 1967 Corvette and a 1972 Barracuda. He had attended several Mopar conventions.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a very special aunt, Sophie Klakos Runkel.

Along with his mother, David is survived by his loving family, his wife, Alice Ann McMillin Klakos who gave extra special care to him throughout his illness. They were married on June 5, 1981. He leaves two daughters, Heather (Matthew McNeely) Klakos of West Point, VA., and Danielle (Nicholas) Wade of New Cumberland; one brother, Edward (Lori) Klakos of Rogers, OH; and two grandsons, Connor David Wade, and Nehemiah McNeely
