Charles F. Mansfield of Chester Passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Saturday, September 15, 2018. A lifelong city resident and former mayor of Chester, Chuck experienced good health until very recently.
Born in Chester on April 7, 1928, he was 90 years old. Chuck’s parents were the late Charles O. and Nellie Calhoon Mansfield.
Chuck loved his hometown of Chester and well known throughout the tri-state area. He retired from the Tin Mill at Weirton Steel, where he was a member of the 25-year club. Chuck was raised in the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester and he was a graduate of the former Chester High School.
In 1979, he suffered the tragic loss of his only son, Randy Mansfield. Chuck was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Mansfield, and his siblings, Lloyd Mansfield, Virginia Pinney, and Ada Hess.
He leaves his loving family, daughter Robbyn Lynn Jeran and her husband Robert Righter Jeran of Buckhannon, WV., his grandson, Robert Ryan Jeran and his wife Denice, and their children, Elly, and Koby, grandson, Justin Charles Jeran, and his wife Erika, and their children, Brody, and Berkeley, and grandson Ross Righter Jeran. Two sisters also survive, Martha Hudson Goodrich of Jensen Beach, FL., and Maxine Mountjoy of Sparta, NJ. Also, there are several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Wednesday, September 19, from 5-9 p.m. Rev. Katrina Lewis will conduct services at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and entombment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
