Following a lengthy illness, Robert M. (Mike) Glover passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 with his loving family at his side.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Chester and was born here on September 29, 1947. 69 years old, he was a son of the late James and Alice McBee Glover.

Due to health issues, Mike had been unable to work for the past several years. Earlier he was a professional truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a graduate of Oak Glen High School and a veteran of the United States Navy. Mike served in Vietnam during the war there where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Glover.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shelby Godwin Glover whom he married on February 10, 1978; his daughters, Mandy Cowdery and her husband Kenny, who Mike thought of as a son and Mellissa Wymer and her husband Jason of East Liverpool; grandchildren, Brandon Michael Glover who he helped raise, Jarrett, Kiersten, Jake, Brittney, Kennedy, and Mackenzie; and three great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, James Glover Jr. and Bill Godwin, Bruce Gagliardo, and Pat Metsch whom he thought of as brothers also. He also leaves behind Shelby’s sister, Lorrie Gagliardo who Mike thought of as his sister; and we can’t forget his constant companion, his dog Jerry Lee.

Everyone who knew and loved Mike is invited to join his family as they celebrate his life with a memorial service at the Avondale Baptist Church in East Liverpool on Friday, May 26 at 4:00 p.m. His son-in-law, Pastor Kenny Cowdrey will officiate. This celebration of Mike’s life will continue with food and fellowship at the Bradley Center next to the church, at the conclusion of the services.
