Norma Irene Houghton, 82 of Columbus and formerly of Newell, passed peacefully, surrounded by loving family, at her home on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, following a lengthy illness.

A daughter of Joseph and Jenny Fiecoat Taylor, Norma was born in Lisbon on September 12, 1935.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Norma trained racehorses at Waterford Park for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack, George, and Wilbur Taylor, Crystabelle Long, Jane Rudy, and Betty Fiecoat; and one grandson, Joseph Butts.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Granville (Jack) Houghton who she married on April 21, 1951; her children, Granville (Terry) Houghton, Jim (Cindy) Houghton, and Mary (Steve) Butts; grandsons, Mark and Jay; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Stevyn, and Bre’ann.

Norma is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
