Milton Lee Fowler, formerly of East Liverpool and more recently of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

A son of the late Gerald M. Fowler and Mary Butcher Fisher, Milt was born in East Liverpool on November 27, 1934. He was 82 years old.

Milt was dedicated to the service of others, both as a police officer and a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired as Chief of the East Liverpool Police Dept in 1986. Also, he was at one time a member of the Bartow Florida Police Department. Milt was always proud of the fact that he was the oldest surviving retired Chief. He was a member of the Urbana Nazarene Church, the local Fraternal Order of Police, and a former member of the East Liverpool Chapter of the American Red Cross Board of Directors. Milt graduated from East Liverpool High School and he received a Criminal Justice degree from the East Liverpool campus of Kent State University.

His sister Betty Dear, preceded him in death.

His wife, Mary Margaret Anderson Fowler, who he married on May 2, 1977, survives, as does his children, Tanya (Tim) Keyser of Salem, OH., Tracy (Bob) Hacker of Berlin Center, OH., Todd Fowler of Fresno. CA. and Melissa (Paul) Ponder of Nicholasville, KY. Also, surviving is his brother, Tim Graham of East Liverpool; his sister’s, Nancy Locke of Columbiana, and Carol McQuade of Clearwater, FL; Twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Pastor Larry Hall of the Urbana Nazarene Church will celebrate Milt’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Wednesday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home today, Tuesday, from 2-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Urbana Nazarene Church, at 1999 St. Rt. 29 East, Urbana, OH.  43078
