Martha Susan Hutton Manypenny, 94, lifetime resident of Chester, went to be her Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018. She passed away at the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born March 7, 1923, in Hancock County West Virginia, at home in Shepherds Valley. She was the youngest daughter of Charles Wesley Hutton and Bertha Bell Fowler Hutton.

Martha was a lifelong member of the Chester First United Methodist Church where on April 7, 1942, she married Samuel Frank Manypenny, who died on March 11, 2003. She worked at Homer Laughlin Pottery in Newell. Also, she was a loving homemaker.

Martha had two brothers and six sisters who preceded her in death. They were Frank Alson Hutton, Charles Wayne Hutton, Grace Hutton Miller, Sara Hutton, Harriett Hutton Jackson, Mayme Hutton Johnson, Bertha Mae Hutton Wolfe, and Esther Hutton Reed.

Surviving Martha is a daughter, Kay Lynne Manypenny and a son, Frank C. Manypenny, a daughter-in-law, Gloria M. Manypenny, two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hutton and Helen Hutton, all of Chester, a god daughter, Deborah Graham Romaine and her husband Mike of Wheeling, WV., and their sons, Robbie and Susan Romaine and family of Charleston, WV., and Jason Romaine of Los Angeles, CA., as well as three step-grandchildren & ten step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Rev. Kara Rowe of the church will conduct services on Friday, January 19, at 1:00p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 18, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Lynn Murray Library in Chester.
