Leonard F. Cunningham of Chester passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Stone Pear Pavilion where he had resided for the past two years.

95 years old Leonard was born in St. Mary’s, West Virginia on December 20, 1921. He was a son of Thomas Edward and Stella Rogers Cunningham.

He retired as a Line Operator from Crucible Steel in Midland upon the closing of the Mill. Leonard served his country with the US Army during WW II and he was lifetime member of American Legion Post 121 in Chester.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Pauline Allison Cunningham, his second wife, Erline Cunningham, his brother, Floyd Cunningham, and his sister, Virginia Johnson.

Leonard leaves two children, Butch Cunningham and his wife, Beverly of East Liverpool and Polly Mackall and her husband Bill of Chester; his sister, Bernice Witherow of California; his grandchildren, Belinda (Paul) Clark, Paula Gee, Gregory K. ( Jennifer) Cunningham, and Kathy ( Michael) Ludwig; and his great grandchildren, Logan, Madelyn, Clark, and Aodhan Cunningham.

Rev. Katrina Lewis will celebrate Leonard’s life on Monday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. He will be laid to rest at the Union Cemetery in New Manchester. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leonard’s name to American Legion Post 121 in Chester.
