Lifelong Chester resident, N. Kathleen “Kappy” Shattenberg, died on Monday, August 14, 2017, at East Liverpool City Hospital after a lengthy illness.

92 years old, Kappy was born in Chester on December 11, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Commodore C. and Evelyn Goddard Rector.

She worked in the office of Homer Laughlin China in Newell for 50 years. Kappy was a graduate of the former Chester High School and she was a member of the Chester First Christian Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband, John C. Shattenberg on July 26, 2004, and her brother, Tom Rector.

Several nieces and nephews survive including, Terri Rector of Newell, and Tom Rector of Pittsburgh.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Wednesday, August 16 from 6-8 p.m. Tom Arehart will celebrate Kappy’s life on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Columbiana County Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, John.
