Herbert W. Lockhart

          Herbert W. Lockhart, 84, of East Liverpool, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.  Mr. Lockhart was one of eleven children born February 8, 1933, to Franklin Monroe and Stella Ethel Sams Lockhart in Woodsfield, Ohio.

 

            His family moved to East Liverpool, Ohio when he was nine years old from Woodsfield, Ohio, where he attended school and was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, Class of 1952.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Panama Canal Zone during the Korean Conflict and was once the owner and operator of Lockhart’s Service Station on St Clair Avenue.  He was an electrician with the Crucible Steel Mill and J & L Steel Mill, retiring in 1995.  He was a member of United Steel Mills Local 1212.  After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, especially making special items for family and friends.

 

            He leaves his wife of 59 years, the former Thelma Stacey Lockhart, whom he married February 7, 1958.  He leaves three children, Theresa M. (Michael Lee) Stockdale of East Liverpool, Herbert W Lockhart, Jr (Suzie) of East Liverpool and Tamera H. (Joseph) Maddox of Bridgeville, Delaware.  In addition, he leaves seven grandchildren; Chelsey Stockdale of East Liverpool, Ohio, Genevieve Maddox and Joseph Maddox of Bridgeville, Delaware and Krystle, Tiffanie, Wally and Richie Lockhart and seven great-grandchildren.  He also is survived by two sisters, Lura Jean (Delmar) Logston of New Manchester, West Virginia and Lenora Wolf of San Jose, California and a very special daughter-in-law, Deborah Harding Lockhart of East Liverpool.

 

            He was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Charles, Carl, Robert and Lloyd and three sisters, Hazel Smith, Opal Clause and Luella Lockhart, two grandchildren, Bronwyn Hope Maddox and Jonas Aiden Maddox and most recently, his fur-daughter, Duchess.

 

            In observance with Mr. Lockhart wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.  Cremation was handled by the Arner Funeral Home in Chester, West Virginia and burial will be at the family’s convenience in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

 

            In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to the local scholarship foundation at Tri-State Area Tuition Mission Foundation, PO Box 458, East Liverpool, OH 43920 in memory of Herbert W. Lockhart, Sr.
