Gloria D. Sprout, 85 of Chester passed away at the Salem Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Ona, WV., on February 26, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Earl L. and Sheba O. Adkins Collins.

A homemaker, Gloria had also been employed for several years at Glass Janitorial Service in Chester. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lisbon. Gloria was a past president of the American Legion Post 121 Axillary in Chester and a member of VFW Post 6450 Auxiliary in Chester.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Jack Lee Sprout, two children, George David Byrd and Cinda Lou Byrd, and her brother, David Collins.

Gloria leaves her children, Robin Lowers of Chester and Karen Freeman of Lake Milton, OH. Also, surviving are her brothers, John Collins of Wellsville and Alva Collins and wife Judy of Lisbon; her grandchildren, Bill Brewer, Ryan Scott, James Brewer, Carly Wagner, and Cody Lowers; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Edgell, Nova Lowers, Cinda & Rex Wagner, and Rowan Scott.

Family and friends will celebrate Gloria’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Calcutta Cemetery. Services will be directed by Church of Latter Day Saints. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
